Written by Ladan Osman, Sun of the Soil is the story of Malian artist Abdou Ouologuem's journey to discover the truth behind this legendary African king. As the legend fuses with his own relationship of seeking glory outside home, Abdou sheds new light on centuries of historical assumption by imagining what could have been, and what can still be.
“Sun of the Soil” is the culmination of years of work with Ladan, Abdou, Abdoul Salam, Lucas, Coulou, Asher, Touré, Hamza, Mads, Karah, and the rest of the team. We are so happy it’s getting its US premiere at such a great New York Festival. If you can, please support us by buying tickets, streaming the film, and encouraging others to watch if you enjoy it.
